This monograph reviews the biochemical and nutritional studies that have been conducted on these legumes, much of which were done in the laboratories of the Institute of Plant Breeding in the past seventeen years. These studies aimed at providing baseline information on these legumes on important biochemical and nutritional qualities. As these legumes are a major potential source of food and feed and livelihood, these studies could provide a sound basis for the wider utilization of these relatively unknown and underutilized legumes.
