Title: Strengthening the Community Forestry Program Coordination Committee at sub-national level to enhance community forestry development
The community forestry approach plays an important role in poverty reduction. It empowers local communities by giving them tenure to sustainably manage forest resources and cope with various socio-economic and environmental problems. In Cambodia, the community forestry approach is an offshoot of a cohesive collaboration among the Forestry Administration, nongovernment organization (NGO)- partners, and village forestry units themselves, which led to the establishment of 485 community forestry project sites in 21 provinces as of mid-2016.
