This policy brief highlights how quality degradation in small-scale fish processing results in significant product and revenue losses, largely driven by inadequate process control and inefficiencies. It argues that low-cost digital technologiesâespecially Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring, automation, and data analyticsâcan reduce waste, improve efficiency, and enhance competitiveness across the fish value chain. The policy brief recommends government-led support, capacity building, and industry collaboration to scale adoption and enable sustainable, technology-driven growth in the sector.
