Findings: Extensive use of proprietary technologies; lack of knowledge of IP; high expectation for the development and protection of products resulting from research activities. Recommendations: Need of technical, scientific and legal assistance; development of specific regulations for the use of proprietary biotechnological inputs and protection of products developed in the research center, this to avoid potential conflicts and to motivate the researchers; need to distinguish recommendations for applied centers and for the academic ones; need to make decisions regarding who is responsible to free the final products of potential legal conflicts.
