In the Philippines, informal social networks of women are key channels for the diffusion of cultivars through the exchange of planting materials. Kinship ties and traditional leadership authorities are also key factors in sustaining collective efforts to conserve sweet potato diversity, such as the establishment of community-managed genebanks.
