Seven grain sorghum cultivars of diverse plant types were grown in three levels of nitrogen fertilizer, plant population density, and in three environments, to determine whether or not some morphological characters are more efficient in light interception, photosynthesis, and grain production. Plant characters studied were total dry matter production, grain-stover ratio, grain yield, leaf area index, leaf length, leaf width, leaf angle, panicle length, grains per panicle, weight of 100 grains, plant height, blooming days, light interception, photosynthesis rate, and night respiration rate.
