This study mainly sought to examine the selected affecting factors, degree and nature of involvement in social and economic participation as well as anticipated consequences of participation by the rural women in the rural development activities in Thailand and the Philippines. Three analytical dimensions were selected to assess the role the rural women played in rural development activities. These were : (1) exogenous/predetrmined variables consisting of 12 selected variables; (2) endogenous variables consisting of the social and economic conditions and (3) endogenous variables which were influenced by the social and economic conditions and the rural development process, comprising of 25 attitudinal statements.
