Summary : An experiment using seven normally cycling carabao heifers of 3 years of age was undertaken to assess the blood gonadotrophic potency in relation to the stages of the estrous cycle. The activity of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), and blood gonadotrophic hormone of carabao heifers during the estrous cycle was determined by the increase in testes weights and germinal tissue development of one-day-old Single Comb White Leghorn chicks. FSH produced significant increase in testes weights and tubular diameter. Significant differences were found among the dosages. A significant positive correlation (r=0.64, P/0.01) was obtained between testes weights and dosages. The response of testes to LH was not quite as great as its response to FSH. A significant positive correlation (r= 0.36, P/0.01) was found between testes weights and dosages. The interstitial tissues were becoming more distinct in the stroma.
