The effects of fertilization on the growth and survival of agoho and giant ipil-ipil seedlings outplanted in a grassland were studied during a six-month period. In addition, some soil properties, climatic variables and their interrelationships were also studied. Plant nutrient content and uptakes were determined six months (at harvest) after planting. Survival of agoho seedlings during the first month was significantly higher than that of giant ipil-ipil seedlings. Survival was not significant, however, between the two species at harvest. Survival was not affected by fertilizer treatments. Height growth of agoho seedlings was significantly higher than that of giant ipil-ipil seedlings during the first, second, fourth and sixth month.
