Summary : The study deals with production planning by Linear programming in the plywood manufacturing plant. The objective is to minimize the cost of production subject to demand, production capacity, inventory capacity, and technology requirements. The study is hypothetical in nature, where the conditions could occur in a real world system. Under some assumptions in which linearization of the constraints is considered, the model can satisfy the objectives of production planning, such as : (1) minimizing the cost of production and inventory charges, (2) completing all orders on time, (3) achieving an even distribution of work loads among all manufacturing processes with smooth production rate over the planning horizon.
