The study was conducted to determine the effects of lime and soil moisture content on the uptake of Ca, Mg and K by corn, to find out the variation in the absorption of Ca, Mg and K by corn with increase in plant density, and to evaluate the effects of lime and soil moisture content on the amounts of exchangeable Ca, Mg and K. The calcium content of corn increased as a function of lime application on a Lipa clay loam soil but the differences obtained were not significant under field condition. Significant effects of liming on calcium content occurred only in the pot experiment. On an Adtuyon clay soil liming also significantly increased the relative Ca content of the corn plant. The percentages of Mg and K were adversely affected by lime application in both the Lipa clay loam and Adtuyon clay soils. Uptake of Ca was directly related to increasing rates of lime application. In both soils, the amount of Mg absorbed per plant decreased with liming but its negative effect on K uptake was more evident in the Adtuyon clay soil.
