Seven studies were conducted at the University of the Philippines Los Ba¤os (UPLB), to determine the effects of prostaglandin F2-alpha (PGF2A) on the reproductive function of breeding does in the Philippines. A dosage of 10 mg PGF2A injected intramuscularly was found optimum for synchronizing estrus and fertility of breeding does. Prostaglandin (10 mg PGF2A) given twice 10 days apart to eight-week post-kidding does induced 100 percent estrous synchronization within as short as 13.6 days. Injection of 10 mg PGF2A given twice 10 days apart at three-month post-kidding to nursing does initiated 100 percent estrous synchronization within as short as 21.2 days, with 100 percent conception rate. Moreover, the mortality of kids nursed by them up to six months of age was nil. PGF2A injection at three-month post-kidding does induced 100 percent estrous synchronization within as short as 4.5 days with 83.3 percent conception rate. Furthermore, the kids weaned at three-months of age showed high livability and better growth rate during the six months post-kidding. Prostaglandin (10 mg PGF2A) injection given to goats on the 143rd day of pregnancy induced kidding within 28.0 hours, and the kids produced had a satisfactory growth rate up weaning time. A combination of 400 I.U. apocrine S (LH + oestradiol) and 10 mg PGF2A given intramuscularly at 48 hours interval to breeding does induced estrous synchronization within 3.2 days and multiple ovulation (2.8 fetuses). The cumulative feeding of high levels of fresh ipil-ipil (Leucaena leucocephala) leaves had no adverse effects on the second year reproductive performance of breeding does. However, 10 mg PGF2A treatment shortened heat induction and length of service period of breeding does by 22.9 and 48.1 days, respectively. Conception rate was 90 percent.
