With the end view of identifying investment and development entry points which can be use as a guidelines prospective policy makers, economic planners and local authorities to look for alternative solutions to develop and improved the existing swine commodity system. In this study, a total of 187 respondents from breeders, assemblers, slaughterhouses and processing company were selected and interviewed by using convenient sampling method. According to the survey, most of the breeders are backyard raisers and produce with a small and medium numbers of swines level. They are rarely trained on breeding techniques. The activities of breeders, assemblers and slaughterhouses are strongly affected by internal and external environment such as insufficiency of capital, seasonable factor, competition, instability of input and output prices and risks caused by epidemic diseases. Breeders also get many difficulties in expanding their operation. They sell their swines based on friendship, cash basic transaction and by sending message to the buyers. Low quality of the products, small processing capacity, obsolete machines and equipments are some main problems of processing sector. Therefore, it is required to invest more on modern technologies to be used for processing, to adequate storage facilities and transportation means. This study also concerns with the retailers and wholesalers, who also incurred much risk secondarily from breeders. Most risks are the availability of substitute products, and seasonality of factor. This research finally finds out some solutions to increase production effectively and develop swine industry in Cantho province. These are (1) Develop domestic markets; (2) Promote veterinary network, hybridize high productivity piglet and modernize pork-processing technology and (3) Call for foreign investment in breeding.
