The aims of this research were to know the effect of soil tillage and type of organic fertilizer on growth and yield of Arabica coffee tree, estimate of type and dose organic fertilizer combination with suitable soil tillage that could increase the yield of Arabica coffee tree. This research had been carried out at P.T. Pagilaran, Batang regency, from October 2004 to February 2005. This study carried out in factorial design, arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design. The first factor was soil tillage, consisted of three sections, that was Zero Tillage (O), Minimum Soil Tillage (M), and Maximum Soil Tillage (P). The second factors is Type of organic fertilizer, consisted of 4 sections, that was Without Fertilizer (O). Residue of Foliage (S). Tea Dust (A) and Cow MAnure (K). from the combination of these two factors, there are 12 combination of treatments, each repeated three times. The observation to volume mass of soil, content of soil moisture , soil N-total, soil C-organic, N-tissue, leaf number increase, shoot length increase, the leaf greenness, light intensity, number of fruit, weight of fruit, weight of beans and weight of 100 beans. The result showed that the soil tillage increased soil N-total content and soil C-organic. Soil tillage did not influence the growth of coffee plant. Application of organic fertilizer stimulated plant growth, particularly cow manure and tea dust. Soil tillage and application of organic fertilizer did not influence the yield of coffee.
