The College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila is the Regional Centre for Public Health, Hospital Administration and Environmental and Occupational Health. As an academic institution and as SEAMEO Centre its three major activities are teaching, research and extension services. These activities are carried out through the seven academic departments and one administrative department. For the period under review, there were four (4) doctoral, seventy (75) masteral and fifty three (53) undergraduate student admissions. The Centre graduated a total of thirty nine (39) graduate and fifty (50) undergraduate students. A total of thirty six (36) research projects were in progress during the period under review, fourteen (14) of which were completed. To date the College/Centre's community development project has expanded with the inclusion of the province of Laguna as venue for Field Practice course of the graduate students. This was made possible through a Memorandum of Agreement signed between UP Manila and the province of Laguna. The agreement calls for the development of Laguna with regards to its health delivery system. The twelve selected municipalities identified by the Provincial Health Office that need capacity building and improvement in health care delivery system, for which our students and faculty could be of great help, are as follows: Calauan, Pagsanjan, Lumban, Sta.Cruz, Siniloan. Bay, Pila, Cavinti, Paete, Pangil, Pakil and Victoria.
