Summary : The aim of the research was carried out (1) to determine the status of fishermen participation in social activities at Besut FDA; (2) to determine the fishermen community status; (3) to determine the fish marketing status at Besut FDA; (4) to assess the progress of development programme of FDAM at Besut FDA. A total number of 282 fishermen households were selected as respondence to the study by random sampling methods. The study propounded that the development programmes that been carried out at Besut FDA had improved the living standard and socioeconomic status of the fishermen, especially in the aspect of social activities and subsidise basic amenities. At the same time, the fishermen had benefited in possessing of boats, engines, and fishing equipments.
