Summary : Agricultural development policies, including those on the beef cattle industry in Nusa Tenggara Timur, are still based on the top-down philosophy. Some programs and projects had failed due to lack of feasibility study before their implementation. The result of this study is beneficial as a paper and may contribute to the development and increase of cattle enterprises can help to solve the problem on inadequate cattle production to respond to the local and national demand for cattle. The main objective of the study is to assess the status of the beef cattle industry, its performance and its prospects in Nusa Tenggara Timur. The specific objectives are to: a) determine and analyze the market for beef cattle produced by Nusa Tenggara Timur; b) assess the business performance of smallholder beef cattle production in Nusa Tenggara Timur; and c)recommend ways to improve the beef cattle agribusiness in Nusa Tenggara Timur.
