Summary : A survey of crop plants infected by root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne spp. was undertaken in 22 provinces in Thailand. Four original host plants, namely, garden balsam, Impatiens balsamina Linn; alyce clover, Alysicarpus sp.; sting weed, Eryngium foetidum Linn. and roselle, Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn. were reported as hosts for the first time. Three root-knot nematode species could be identified from 57 pure nematode isolates maintained. They were meloidogyne; Chitwood, and M. graminicola, M. incognita was the most common and widespread, M. javanica ranked second and M. graminicola was the least species encountered. Comparative morphometry among and within species of perineal patterns, of second stage characters,as well as susceptibility, biological, physiological and chromosomal variability were studied.
