Summary : Field experiments were conducted in upland and lowland soil conditions to detrmine the growth performance of three soybean varieties, CES-434, L-114 and Clark 63, throughout the growing periods. The biggest varietal type CES-434 was found to have the greater varietal type, L-114 and Clark 63 under the dense at population (700,000 plants/ha) in both field conditions. This was attributed to the greater leaf area index intercepting greater solar radiation. The more favorable moisture conditions during lowland trial enhanced vigorious development of the soybeans than when they were grown under upland soil condition, hence a greater accumulation of dry matter was found in the lowland experiment.
