Six hundred and forty seven plasma samples of Philippine carabaos and subsequently 39 plasma samples of Malaysian carabaos were used in studying the albumin and post-albumin polymorphism, their genotypes and frequencies by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Results showed that albumin polymorphism existed in Philippine and Malaysian carabaos. The albumin genotypes present in the Philippine carabaos were Alb A Alb A, Alb A Alb B, Alb B Alb B, Alb B Alb C, and Alb A Alb C. The frequencies of the Alb A, ALb B, and Alb C alleles were 0.0475, 0.9501, and 0.0024 respectively. Malaysian carabaos showed only the AlbA and Alb B alleles were 0.2051 and 0.7949, respectively. Genetic equilibrium was apparent.
