A series of three experiments was conducted in order to (a) improve the germination of ilang-ilang seeds, (b) determine appropriate potting media for raising ilang-ilang seedlings and (c) explore the possibility of propagating ilang-ilang by cuttings. The results of the germination study indicated that soaking ilang-ilang seeds in warm water with an initial temperature of 60 deg C for 24 hours was the best pre-sowing treatment followed by nicking and soaking the seeds in tap water. A total germination rate of 92% and a germinative energy of 84.6% were achieved in the former method.
