This commodity system study of cashew was aimed at providing an update of data regarding cashwe cultivation, processing and marketing. This work is considered timely because of the anticipated decrease in the export role of cassava, a drought resistant crop usually planted in marginal lands in the Northeast Thailand. Cashew was found to be a viable substitute for cassava in terms of both production and income generating potentials.
