Los Baños, Laguna, the Philippines :
The study was conducted to find answers to the following questions : (1) do the present activities of the settlers in the Central Palawan Resettlement Project (CPRP) in Narra, Palawan and the Maria Sinukuan Agricultural Cooperative Settlement in Magalang, Pampanga conform with the policies and guidelines of MAR, and what have they done with respect to these? (2) How do the respondents perceive, and what are their attitudes regarding the repayment of loans provided them by ACA/MAR and other lending institutions? (3) what effects had the resettlement program on the settlers' occupation and educational aspirations for their children? (4) how are the settlers involved in building up their new communities in terms of their participation in socio-political activities? (5) how do the settlers view the infrastructures provided for by MAR for them? (6) how do settlers perceive the MAR officials who are directly responsible in the management of the settlement and the field technicians? Findings of the study revealed that MAR provided a set of policies or guidelines to the conduct of the settlers inside the settlement, and the respondents were aware of what activities were allowed as well as those that were prohibited. There were only a few who failed to abide with the guidelines but purposely abandoned the lands allocated to them or squatted on the farms of other settlers explaining that their lands were very poor marginal, and unproductive.
