Summary : The experiment was conducted at sakholnakhon Sericulture Experiment Station in Thailand, from May 23, 1990 to February 7, 1991. The objectives of the experiment were to study floral biology, pollen storage and viability, and crossability of different mulberry clones. Seven clones of mulberry; Noi, Harngchang, Los Baños, Batac, Pai, No.44 and S54 were used as parental cones. Six clones ( Noi, Harngchang, Batac, Pai, No.44 and S54) are unisexual while Los Baños is bisexual. Of these clones, Noi, Harngchang and Los Baños were male clones while Los Baños, Batac, Pai, No. 44 and S54 were female clones. Pollen viability of three male clones was tested. There were highly significant differences among clones, storage durations and their interactions. Hybridization among the above clones were conducted. Twelve (12) crosses were successful which include one selfed (Los Baños x Los Baños); nine of which were produced using cuttings of female parents and the rest using the original trees.
