The findings and lessons learned from this study are of relevance in: achieving the mission and goals of the CGIAR, IRRI and national agricultural research institutions; contributing to the body of knowledge on gender issues in agricultural research; development of a conceptual framework for understanding of the complex interactions between the environment and intrahousehold allocation of resources; development of methodologies to identify and introduce viable technology to rural women using farmer participatory research; identification of technologies for women-specific tasks; formulation of policies for improving the welfare of poor rural women and their families and a global commitment to bring a better life to women in agriculture.
