This workshop was held in Manila from 18 July â 22 July 2005. The workshop was a unique opportunity: 42 government officials and ADB staff responsible for implementing transport infrastructure projects met to discuss how to improve poverty impacts of projects. Latest research findings on linkages between transport infrastructure and poverty reduction were presented, experiences in past and on-going ADB projects were discussed, and key pro-poor policies and operational features were identified. The workshop concluded that while transport infrastructure generally improves aggregate productivity and income, there is considerable room for making transport infrastructure more pro-poor. Participants stated that as a result of attending the workshop they were equipped with pro-poor measures to be used in the design and implementation of transport infrastructure projects in their countries.
