2011 was an important year for SEAFDEC Aquaculture Department (AQD). Its commodity programs were changed into thematic programs beginning 2012. AQDâÂÂs mandates, however, have not changed. AQD pursues research & development and training & information dissemination for sustainable aquaculture development, poverty alleviation in the countryside, conservation & enhancement of aquatic resources, and ensuring food security in Southeast Asia (SEA).
